Morgan Elizabeth Weddings Let’s talk Wedding Shower! We have all had to learn to alter our lifestyles around a pandemic, and the ever-changing world we live in. But on top of that, being a bride-to-be during all this has added an extra layer of stress to an already hectic time!
One of the many exciting events leading up to the big day is your wedding shower. Whether this is put on by your family, your friends, or you, it is a day dedicated to the bride-to-be and the celebration of your and your partner’s future.
We always dreamed of this day surrounded by the most important people in our life, lots of food, flowers, and of course, dessert. Well, COVID has taught us that things can’t always be in our control, and more importantly, it has taught us how to get creative to ensure we can still enjoy these special times while keeping the people we love as safe as possible. Luckily for all of us, there are some COVID -friendly alternatives to the traditional shower.
Drive-Through Shower
Regardless of the weather, this one is possible! Although preferable in the sun, this can still be done in just about any weather! Just grab a coat, umbrella, or place yourself in a covered area. You can have your guests drive by during a specified time to celebrate you from afar. This is a great method for keeping distance. Guests can mail gifts directly to your house ahead of time to eliminate any need for close contact during your shower, providing some face-to-face celebration while keeping guests and yourself safe.
Backyard Shower/Outdoor Shower
Unless in a covered area or tent, this one is weather permitting; but a backyard/outdoor shower is another great way to socially distance guests. This way people can gather and celebrate you, but in the fresh air. If a backyard isn’t an option, keep in mind the possibility of a state park or public park. These are spaces where people can gather outdoors as well.
Zoom Shower
Zoom is the best thing since food delivery! This is an awesome method of gathering guests who live out of town, are unable to travel during this time, or also prefer to keep distance and limit as much exposure as possible. This way you can interact safely with guests and participate in the more traditional shower activities. Guests can watch you and your partner open gifts from the safety of everyone’s homes.
Reducing Your Guest List
Although not ideal to have to cut back, this option still would allow a more traditional shower and would keep guests’ health in mind. Regardless of what side of the guest list people fall on, the feedback we have received is that everyone is happy and willing to make this change for the safety of themselves and others.
Postponing Your Shower
If you are okay with holding off on your shower, this is also an option that would allow you to have a bigger gathering in the future.
Although the events of your day may not take place how you’ve always dreamed them to be, with a little creativity there are many options to ensure your wedding shower will be just as, if not more, fun and memorable than you ever imagined.
